Remote Access is an important tool which allows administrators to monitor and control remote machines without physical access to the machine. While not everything can be done with a remote shell, often times 99% of what needs to be done during the livespan of a host, can be done via a remote shell. OpenSSH is an industry standard and its implementation can be quite secure.
