Open Source Software (OSS) is often associated with freedom but what that freedom is often confuses people new to it. Obviously this software is free to use as in it costs no money. But users are also free to modify it, not just because the source is available but they are also legally allowed to make changes to this software and use it for any purpose they see fit. These software principals can be applied to other areas of computing, such as infrastructure.
